go vote!

what an exciting day to be in chicago! obama is so close to being president (*fingers crossed/knock on wood*) and he's from chicago, so everyone here is for obama. pretty much anyway. there's a rally/party thing for him at grant park tonight, but they are saying that if you don't have a ticket already, please stay away. it's gonna be really really packed and busy and i think everyone is preparing for the worst behavior- whether obama wins or loses, people are going to get out of control. this whole election has worked everyone into a frenzy so no matter what the outcome, they are going to go insane. i'd love to be at grant park, but i didn't sign up in time to get a ticket. might be better to avoid all that anyway. no knowing what could happen when probably thousands of people get together for one thing to celebrate one man. security is going to be rediculous. even the building where i have classes is tightening up so you can't even get in after 5 unless you have a key. i even heard that there might be an alcohol ban for tonight; at least, it won't be sold anywhere downtown. probably a great idea.
i'm so glad i voted a couple weeks ago to avoid all the lines and people. i see people with buttons and stickers saying the voted today all over the place, signs everywhere telling people to vote and pointing them to the nearest locations. starbucks is giving free coffee from 5-8 for people who voted, and ben and jerry's is doing the same thing with ice cream. this is the most hyped-up, most publicized election ever, and i'm a part of it. i've never been able to vote before, so i've never cared as much about politics as i do right now. history could be made this week!
everyone needs to get out and vote today, if they haven't already. vote vote vote vote!!!!
